Wentworth Point Planning and Urban Design

Project:

Wentworth Point Planning and Urban Design

Location:

Homebush Bay, Sydney NSW

Client:

Billbergia and Sekisui House

Date:

2012

The Task:

We were engaged to prepare the Planning Proposal and Urban Design Review to support major planning initiatives at Wentworth Point. The proposal and review facilitated the approval and delivery of a new pedestrian, cycle and public transport bridge across Homebush Bay.

The Outcome:

Our amendments to the existing statutory framework provided an additional 120,000 square metres of floor space and the introduction of 16 to 25 storey towers to a predominantly four to eight storey planning framework. Our revised controls responded to the significance of the new bridge connecting the emerging community with Rhodes.

Our Urban Design Review established a set of urban design, built form and massing principles to inform how best to accommodate an additional floor space in a revised Urban Design Framework for the precinct to fund the bridge.

We also prepared the Planning Proposal Report, the draft amendments to the Homebush Bay West DCP and advised on the Voluntary Planning Agreement to secure the Bridge and directly undertook most agency negotiations.
